Surviving Slime Rock in MICHELIN Pilot Challenge

Park Place Motorsports executed a near-perfect race on both track and in pit lane but came away from Lime Rock Park with a twelfth-place finish after high temperatures pull the No. 7 VOLT Lighting Porsche Cayman GT4 Clubsport MR to the back of the MICHELIN Pilot Challenge GS Class.
Temperatures reached over 100 degrees Fahrenheit in the Lime Rock Park 120 making the inside of the No. 7 VOLT Lighting Porsche oven like for drivers Alan Brynjolfsson and Trent Hindman. After qualifying Brynjolfsson began the race and ran a clean, nearly hour-long stint. Nearing the end of race Park Place Motorsports Strategist Mike Johnson made the call to keep Brynjolfsson out in hopes of gaining advantage and position.
Brynjolfsson slowed on track to coast into pit lane after the fuel cell proved problematic. The remaining fuel delivered Brynjolfsson to pit lane for a driver change. The late pit stops and slow entry put No. 7 VOLT Lighting Porsche two laps down. Hindman would make up the laps under the races only caution. Hindman would run through the end, making the two-hour race a one pit stop race. Park Place Motorsports finished the Lime Rock Park 120, 12th in the GS Class.
Park Place Motorsports and the MICHELIN Pilot Challenge next compete at Road America August 1-4 alongside the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. "I mean overall again I'm happy with the performance of the team we did everything we could do," Johnson said. "We executed great all weekend and had a great race in very difficult conditions. Unfortunately, we've seen this more and more, as the air temperature gets higher the Porsche just doesn't seem to breathe as well as maybe some of our turbo powered competitors do. So, we know when its 95 degrees out we're just going to struggle. Most of that's just coming off the corners; here you have some slow corners where you really need some torque to
