Forgeline Motorsports Expands IMSA Strategic Alliance in 2019
Thursday, January 24, 2019

DAYTON, Ohio – Expanding on a relationship that was rekindled in 2018, Forgeline Motorsports will be a sponsor of IMSA.tv live streaming for all 2019 IMSA MICHELIN Pilot Challenge events.

The series includes a robust field of Grand Sport (GS) and Touring Car (TCR) race cars built to international racing specifications. GS features a full field of GT4 race cars from Aston Martin, Audi, BMW, Chevrolet, Ford, Mercedes-AMG, McLaren and Porsche; the TCR class includes eligible race cars from Alfa Romeo, Audi, Honda, Hyundai and Volkswagen.

In addition to its support of MICHELIN Pilot Challenge live streaming on IMSA.tv, Forgeline also will have a strong presence during IMSA Radio broadcasts of the MICHELIN Pilot Challenge, including interviews, short features and racing discussion, all designed to create additional buzz and excitement for fans listening via SiriusXM, IMSA.tv, RadioLeMans.com, the IMSA Mobile App and affiliates internationally, as well as across the Track PA at each event.

“Forgeline is proud to be expanding its strategic alliance with IMSA,” said Steve Schardt of Forgeline Motorsports, an amateur racer himself. “Watching the series grow has been incredible, and we wanted to invest more into this particular series. In addition, as part of the IMSA Radio broadcasts, we will conduct a fan-based voting feature called The Spirt of the Race Award.

“This will allow IMSA Radio listeners to vote in real time who they feel has demonstrated what this series is really about via their Twitter or Facebook accounts. IMSA is celebrating 50 years in 2019, and in Forgeline’s 25 years of operation, we have always been involved with the series. Expanding our involvement with IMSA during its 50th and our 25th anniversary year just makes sense to us.”

“Forgeline has been an enthusiastic member of the IMSA paddock for many years, and we are pleased to see the relationship expand this season,” said IMSA Vice President, Marketing, David Pettit. “As Steve mentioned, our 50th Anniversary Celebration is a cornerstone of our 2019 season, and it is through the support of companies like Forgeline that we have a reason to celebrate.”

Forgeline not only will be visible to fans watching MICHELIN Pilot Challenge live streaming. Its products also will be out on the racetrack.

The most popular Forgeline wheel used in IMSA competition is the GS1R, an open-lug wheel which was specifically designed for professional racing teams in the MICHELIN Pilot Challenge GS class. Forged from a single piece of 6061-T6 aluminum, the forged monoblock GS1R has a 2,100-pound street-tire load rating per wheel, extreme fatigue strength and exceptional deflection stiffness to withstand the G-forces of racing.

The open lug center provides additional weight reduction to the motorsport engineered design to make the wheel very lightweight. GS1R wheels feature a concave profile, I-beamed spokes and a chamfered outer lip while providing generous brake clearance. Each custom-built GS1R is available in 17, 18, 19 and 20-inch diameters as well as in a vast range of widths and offsets. Customers can choose from a wide variety of colors and finishes to customize their wheels.
